Operational Consistency in Action: ISO 9001 Surveillance Audit

SealingTech recently completed its ISO 9001 surveillance audit with no findings and clear improvement from the previous year. While the result is significant, the more meaningful takeaway is what the audit revealed about our day-to-day quality performance: the strong operational consistency we provide for our customers to help position their mission for success.

ISO 9001 Surveillance Audit confimred that SealingTech’s Quality Management System is actively working under real conditions to improve the customer’s experience.

Throughout the audit, feedback repeatedly pointed beyond compliance to our ability to execute processes consistently in real-world operations, with the auditor describing our Quality Management System (QMS) as “more polished” than in the previous year. From system visibility to cross-functional alignment, the audit confirmed that our QMS is not just defined on paper; it’s actively working under real conditions to improve the customer’s experience.

Earlier Detection, Reduced Disruption

During receiving, components may arrive with damage, missing parts, or noncompliant specifications. While checkpoints and system tracking have always been in place at SealingTech, they are now applied more consistently and with greater visibility across the process thanks to our in-house Production Portal, which has become more refined and more consistently used across teams.

Designed to help manage workflows, track nonconformances, and maintain records, our Portal functions as a connected system, purpose-built to support how work gets done in real situations. Consistent use of our Portal to log and manage nonconforming work (NCW) has resulted in issues being succinctly documented and made visible earlier in the process. In turn, this prevents defective or incomplete components from moving further into production, thus reducing mid-build disruptions, rework, and delays for our customers.

It’s also helping to get our Kits into the hands of the warfighter faster, with more predictable delivery and fewer downstream issues for customers. With our refined Production Portal:

  • Customer service tickets have dropped 30% YTD
  • Running 96% on-time delivery
  • 2.1% return rate, well below the 5% objective

SealingTech’s Production Portal functions as a connected system, preventing defective or incomplete components from moving further into production, thus reducing mid-build disruptions, rework, and delays for our customers.

Eliminating Guesswork, Improving Efficiency

In a fast-paced production environment, unclear or inconsistent instructions can lead to stop-and-go execution, with teams needing to pause, clarify, or correct work mid-process.

With SealingTech’s increase in standardized documentation, expanded coverage of lower-level processes, and better alignment across systems, workflows are easier to follow and more consistently applied. This reduces hesitation during builds, minimizes errors, and helps work move more efficiently from one stage to the next.

The audit noted that SealingTech teams demonstrated a shared understanding of their roles and how processes are applied, with minimal variation from one function to the next.

This level of consistency is critical in high-pressure environments. It reduces variability and eliminates guesswork. It also ensures that outcomes don’t depend on who is doing the work, but on systems that are built to perform reliably every time.

Real-Time Awareness, Faster Response

When our Quality Management System was described as “more polished,” compared to last year, it was a reflection of our improved performance and execution. In practice, that means fewer surprises during production, clearer handoffs between teams, and faster identification of issues when they occur.

That same emphasis on visibility and responsiveness also carries through to direct customer support. “First response time” refers to the duration from when a customer support ticket is submitted to when a support engineer responds. SealingTech’s support team maintains an average first response time of approximately 13 minutes —17 minutes under our 30-minute target. By enabling rapid triage and minimizing delays in issue resolution, our customers’ needs are swiftly being addressed with minimal mission disruption.

Stronger Control and Visibility as We Scale

Each build follows a defined and traceable workflow. Components are verified, configurations documented, and quality checks built into each stage of the process. Critical testing, both automated and manual, ensures systems meet requirements before delivery.

Because we support our processes with real-time tracking and consistent system use, SealingTech teams have full visibility into each build. When something changes, it’s captured and addressed at once, thus reducing downstream risk and keeping work moving without interruption.

In practice, that level of control reduces uncertainty, minimizes delays, and ensures that what is delivered matches expectations. For our customers, it means systems that arrive ready—on time, built correctly, and prepared to perform in mission-critical environments.

Because in our line of work, quality isn’t just about meeting requirements, it’s about performance when it matters most.

Quality that Keeps Pace with the Mission

In fast-moving environments, quality cannot slow things down. It must enable scalability and speed as customer demand grows.

We’re seeing our Quality Management System mature into a fully executed, risk-based model, expanding training and competency across roles.

As we continue to build standardized processes, including more than 20 controlled documents released or revised in 2026 alone, SealingTech is able to support rapid execution without sacrificing control and adapt to changing requirements without breaking down. The balance between speed with structure allows us to deliver consistent results in environments where reliability remains critical for our customers.

Built In, Not Added On

One of the clearest outcomes from this year’s ISO 9001 surveillance audit is simple: quality is no longer something we prepare for or react to, it’s something we operate within every day.

Processes are understood, systems are used consistently, and teams are aligned. It’s what striving for continual improvement and earning our customer’s business every day looks like.

As we continue to refine and strengthen our systems, our focus remains the same: delivering consistent, reliable solutions that meet our customers’ needs—every time.
