In a previous blog, I discussed how SealingTech’s performance and the work we do with the Department of Defense (DoD) and in the private sector led to our meeting with the US Department of Commerce during InfoSecurity Europe’s 2023 conference. At that time, we presented our line of small form factor cyber-defense hardware and solutions for future international partnerships in direct commercial sales (DCS) and foreign military sales (FMS). Its success prompted a second invitation, this time for SealingTech to represent the United States at Cyber Mission Asia in an executive lead trade mission to Taiwan, South Korea, and Japan in September 2023.
These pivotal experiences among others propel us one step closer to our goal of enhancing global cybersecurity and safeguarding critical infrastructure across our NATO as well as other international partners. Whether SealingTech is helping to protect the security of a US federal agency or a community’s critical infrastructure overseas, our mutual cybersecurity needs remain the same. At the end of the day, it’s about ensuring security in a highly contested cyber domain which knows no borders or boundaries.
Sustaining International Defense Readiness
Apart from my day job as Lead Account Manager for SealingTech’s International Sales Program, I proudly serve as a US Army Reservist Cyber Warfare Officer. If a hostile cybersecurity crisis arose threatening the welfare of one of our international partners, I’d want the assurance that allied cyber operators could confidently deploy the high-capacity servers in our mobile Cyber-Fly-Away Kits because they possessed the readiness and training to operate them. Or if allied warfighters needed one of our modular network sensors, an American troop could hand it to them and initiate the capability to scale up or combine forces. But how does one go about building these bilateral defense partnerships and interoperability?
Strengthening Partner Capacity and Interoperability
To ensure our allies have access to the best cybersecurity defenses, SealingTech works in conjunction with the US Department of Commerce to help support free trade and the security of international communities in cyberspace. Our team operates directly with local partners to deliver and support the defensive cyber capability necessary to protect critical infrastructure whether commercial or government. SealingTech will also work within the US International Security Cooperation construct on foreign military sales to promote interoperability, training, and joint operations with US Cyber Forces. This fosters the kind of comprehensive partnership required to deter common adversaries, terrorists, and criminal organizations.
Cyber-Fly-Away Kits and International Training
SealingTech works directly with the customer to supply lightweight modular kits, training, and support. We’re the perfect partner to provide advisement and customized modular capability that balances requirements and budget. Our goal is to create a united front against cyberattacks to maintain a free and open cyberspace, making the world a safer place for future generations.
However, providing partners with hardware alone is not enough to establish this interoperability and readiness; training is required. That is why, along with our Cyber-Fly-Away Kits, we send over a team to conduct international training events to familiarize cyber operators with kit deployment and teach general cybersecurity defense. SealingTech hardware is software agnostic. This enables the customer to select any software they like to integrate it into our solution for offline and online network visibility that can be incorporated into a Security Operations Center (SOC) for enterprise situational awareness.
Partnering with host countries early on helps us to create a level of cybersecurity interoperability and enhances readiness. It establishes new bilateral defense partnerships and opens a channel of communication to continue to ensure our partners’ capacity as cyber threats evolve. Most US government foreign military sales contracts expire after three years. We can further serve our NATO and international partners through simultaneous and post direct commercial sales (DCS).
Raising Cybersecurity Across Our NATO Partners
At SealingTech, we’re committed to maintaining a combined front and shared capability to protect the infrastructure of our international partners and at home. Through the help of the US Department of Commerce and US Embassies, we hope to continue to gain momentum in enhancing global cybersecurity and critical infrastructure across our NATO and international partners
